Sky on Flames was formed in 2020 by Noah Weddig and Lorenz Sebald as a metalcore studio project. Their initial goal was clear: to write and record a powerful album—and they did just that. The two musicians shared a strong vision, merging hard-hitting metalcore riffs with emotional melodies that formed the foundation of their unique sound.
In 2022, the project took a major turn when drummer Hannes Heid joined the band, transforming Sky on Flames from a studio project into a full live band. Shortly after, bassist Hanno Hunstein joined the group, completing the lineup and infusing the band with fresh energy.
Later that year, Sky on Flames released their debut album, Eternal Madness, which had been in the works for two years. The album’s mix of intense metalcore elements, dark melodies, and complex arrangements was exactly what the band was looking for.
As their sound evolved, so did their style. With the writing of their second album, Entropy (released in the summer of 2024), Sky on Flames began incorporating heavier death metal and deathcore influences, pushing their sound into even darker, more intense territories. The album blends guttural vocals, aggressive riffs, and pounding drums with atmospheric, almost electronic elements, showcasing a growing versatility that sets them apart from their peers. These more experimental aspects, such as electronic textures and atmospheric soundscapes, are a natural progression for the band, reflecting their openness to blending genres and pushing musical boundaries.
Despite the shift in their sound, one thing remains unchanged: Sky on Flames still produces, mixes, and finalizes all of their music in-house. This DIY approach continues to be a cornerstone of their identity, allowing them full creative control over their work.
Currently, the band is working hard on their third album, which is set to be their most ambitious and diverse project yet. The upcoming release will build on their deathcore and death metal influences while exploring even more intricate, electronic elements, offering a sound that is both aggressive and atmospheric. Fans can expect something truly epic that pushes Sky on Flames to new heights.
